
What’s the deal with this women’s shoe?
By Jessica L. Gershwin,Reuters, July 15, 2017 (Reuters) – The retail giant Wal-Mart Stores Inc on Wednesday unveiled a women’s-focused store that it hopes will appeal to young women as it expands its range of footwear.
The store, at the corner of 15th and Walnut Streets, is the latest in a line of new women-focused stores that have emerged over the past year or so, including at the flagship New York City retailer.
Wal-Mart said the new store is designed for women who want to experience the store in a way that will also be fun for them.
The new store will be at Wal-Marts flagship outlet in Manhattan, which is a Wal-mart location with more than 200,000 square feet.
The chain also said it will open a store at a Walmart store in Atlanta later this year.
The move by Wal- Mart comes amid broader shifts by retailers as they grapple with the rapid rise of online shopping, particularly on social media, and increasingly with online delivery.
